What tools do students need for the Refrigeration training program?

If you have decided to become an HVAC/R technician or considering getting enrolled in a refrigeration training program, you will need certain tools during the training. The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is a 450 Hours course, during which students will get both theoretical and practical training. The students will be working with many different AC and refrigeration units to develop the practical skills needed to become a qualified HVAC/R technician. Therefore, it is essential for students to keep a toolkit required for training handy.

Following are a few necessary tools that HVAC technicians must have:

Safety goggles

Safety goggles are a must-have for students to protect their eyes during working with HVAC systems. Safety goggles protect your eyes from dust, radiation, lose parts, chemicals, heat, and more.

Safety gloves

High-quality, safety gloves are essential for HVAC/R technicians. Work gloves are essential to protect hands from injuries during AC or refrigeration, installation, or repair activities.

Digital thermometer

As HVAC/R technicians have to work with heating and cooling systems for various jobs, keeping a digital thermometer in your toolkit is essential.

Wrench set

A set of wrenches will be imperative for your refrigeration training program. HVAC/R technicians need many different sizes of wrenches to turn, loosen, or tightening nuts and bolts.

Pliers

Pliers are usually needed for twisting, grabbing, holding, and even cutting wiring or other objects in electrical appliances. It is best to buy quality pliers as per your trainer’s recommendation.

Screwdrivers

Screwdrivers are the essential tools that would be needed for almost every job. It is best to keep a screwdrivers kit handy to ensure you have all different sizes of flathead screwdrivers required for school and work.

Electrical Testers

HVAC technicians have to work with electricity in most jobs, so a quality electrical tester is a must-have tool. It is best to keep an electrical tester that also reports the output for safety.

Some refrigeration training program provides a basic toolkit you will need throughout the training. Some programs provide students a toolkit upon graduation, but others may require you to buy your own tools. It is recommended that students should consult with their program instructor to put together the right toolkit as per Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (450 Hours)
Program requirements beforehand.
